Bantam LL, U15 Boys, 2019-2020 (Mitchell Minor Hockey)

The VanGerwin Bantam LL Meteors had a busy 3 game week in LL playoff action. Game one was against BCH Ice Dogs #2 that had the two teams in a defensive battle that held till late in the game when Grayson Yost made a trademark end to end rush that potted the Meteors the winner. Hayden Beuermann with the shut out. 

WOAA Playoffs began this past weekend with two home games for the VanGerwen Bantam LL versus Wingham and Goderich earned these Meteors a split to start the round robin.

This week saw two road games Vs Drayton and Huron Bruce. Friday night in Drayton had 1st period goals by Brock Boville (unassisted) and followed by goal by Sam Huettlin assisted from Jarret VanBakel. Visitors added a single. Second period had Defenders score two vs Mitchells single by James McCarthy assists from Logan Nugent and Jake Crowley. Third period had its share of action but not in form of the scoresheet so this tilt ended in a draw. Onto next one boys!

The Van Gerwin Bantam LL team went undefeated this weekend with a solid effort from the entire team. Opponents of Aylmer, St. Thomas and Embro were all new to these Meteors. First up was Saturday against Aylmer. The Aylmer team scored 2X in the first period with an early lead but two goals in 2nd period by Jeromy VandeWalle (helpers McCarthy and Harmer) and Noah Mann (helpers Ruby and Meinen) tied things up. 3rd period had the Aylmer team pull ahead again by two but strong effort by Jarret VanBakel highlighted by a beauty late game tying backhand locked this game to a 4-4 draw.  Assists to ...

The VanGerwin Bantam LL recently played their first match-up of the season against the South Bruce Blades on Friday night. First Period began with an exceptional show of stick-handling and patience from James McCarthy as he faked out the defender and placed a perfect top shelf stick side goal unassisted to get the Meteors on the score sheet for the lone goal of the period. Goalie Beuermann was keen to show his stick handling skills as well with some nifty aggressive play in and out of his crease.
