The Van Gerwen Sunlife Bantam LL started their league play this week coming away with a tie and a win.
On Tuesday night the opponent was BCH. The home team took the lead at 6:18 of the first period when Andreas Harmer found the back of the net, with assists going to Grayson Yost and James McCarthy. Early in the third period the lead was extended to 2-0 when Logan Nugent scored assisted by Jaxen Hartwig. BCH came back and scored two late third period goals to tie the game. Each team walking away with a point.
Saturday afternoon the team drove west on highway #8 to take on the Goderich Sailors. A fast paced game saw the home team jump out to a 1 nothing lead in the first. The Meteors displayed some great team work early in the season and answered back with 2 goals of their own by the end of the first period to take the lead. Goals were scored by Noah Mann and James McCarthy with assists to Ethan Meinen and Grayson Yost.
Grayson would then score in the second period to put the Meteors up 3-1, but the Sailors answered back quickly to make it 3-2.
In the third period the Meteors defence of Logan Ruby, Ethan Dearing, Liam Brodhagen, Jaxen Hartwig and Daniel Ogilvie would minimize the Sailors chances. James McCarthy would score his second of the game assisted by Daniel Ogilvie, and Logan Ruby would score on a sharp angle assisted by Ethan Dearing and Noah Mann to make the final score 5-2 for the Meteors. Hayden Beuermann stood strong in net to give the Meteors the win.
