WOAA Playoffs begin!
WOAA Playoffs began this past weekend with two home games for the VanGerwen Bantam LL versus Wingham and Goderich earned these Meteors a split to start the round robin.

Saturdays game began with the Meteors having a strong start with a quick goal from Grayson Yost assisted by Andreas Harmer along with a pair of goals from James McCarthy from Jaxon Hartwig followed by assists to Andreas Harmer and Yost for the second McCarthy goal. The Ironmen got rolling late in the period with 2 goals of their own to answer back. Second period had Wingham out quick to tie the game up but Mitchell kept rolling along in scoring 4 unanswered goals to take the game 7-3. Two goals from Jarret VanBakel along with goals from Hartwig and Harmer, assists from Hartwig, Yost and Brock Boville. Game sheet in the third was filled with plenty of penalties but no more scoring. Win for the Meteors!

Second game in as many nights was also in Mitchell against the Sailors from Goderich. The Meteors were penalized twice in the first period with Goderich quickly scoring on both to take a 2 goal lead. This lead was held through the second period. It looked from the writers eye that these boys were tired from the eventful game just 24 hrs before. The flood between the 2nd and 3rd gave the boys a chance to rest/regroup with the help from coaches in the intermission. Out in the third the Meteors finally came to life with 2 goals from McCarthy (Harmer) and Noah Mann (Meinen, Yost) but was ultimately not enough as Goderich didn't quit and got the late tie breaking goal with 3 minutes left in the game. With Goalie Beuermann on the bench this gave the home team an extra attacker which gave our boys some chances but their goalie was also sharp and the Sailors held on for the win. Defense of Liam Brodhagen, Logan Ruby, Ethan Dearing, Daniel Ogilvie and Jake Crowley did well to keep them from getting an empty net. 3-2 loss.
