Atom Rep, U11 Boys, 2016-2017 (Mitchell Minor Hockey)

The YNCU Meteors continued play Saturday afternoon in Midland and Elmvale as they locked in a semi final position and a chance to move into Sunday's final. The semi final game against a team that seemed more intent on causing our boys harm than about winning just fueled the Meteors as they stayed to their own game and cruised to a berth in the afternoon final. With that same mentality the boys remained on course and played around their opponents frustrations to capture the trophy of nature's delicious maple gift.

The YNCU Meteors opened up the 2017 Maple Syrup Country Tournament in strong fashion as they powered their way through the first two games. Friday afternoon after a long drive northward the boys squared off to the Bancroft Jets in the hosting center arena in Elmvale. Dispite some early concern the boys would quickly ignite their legs and find the stride we are all a custom to. This morning was a trip into the long beach of Wasaga for a coffee time bout against South Muskoka. It was a chippy match that saw striped arms up a few times but for the most part it was left to the boys to play ...

Deep into playoffs and the YNCU Atom Rep boys have found themselves struggling as they were eliminated from OMHA play by Hanover and have had mixed results in their WOAA series. But that hasn't taken from the fight within them as the Meteors have now hung a pair of "W's" after a weekend exhibition match against Lambton Shores and a playoff win against Saugeen Shores Sunday.

The YNCU rep boys were able to move past their first round OMHA competition as they defeated Goderich and took the series in three straight games. The Meteors dominated early and never looked back. Vincent Voros and Josh French both scored in the first while Rhett Terpstra, Jarrett VanBakel and Daniel Ogilvie assisted. The second brought two more goals, this time from Lucas Roobroeck unassisted and a second from Voros, again assisted by Terpstra. In the third Voros rounded out his hat trick as he broke for an unassisted goal and the final for the boys as they took the game in a 5-3 final. ...

Playoffs have begun for the YNCU atoms and it's been a great start so far as the boys have taken the first 4 points in the 6 point OMHA series. Puck control and heads up hockey have been the star so far as the chances have been weighted the Meteors way.
