Your Neighborhood Credit Union Atom Rep find an upswing after some playoff difficulty.
Deep into playoffs and the YNCU Atom Rep boys have found themselves struggling as they were eliminated from OMHA play by Hanover and have had mixed results in their WOAA series. But that hasn't taken from the fight within them as the Meteors have now hung a pair of "W's" after a weekend exhibition match against Lambton Shores and a playoff win against Saugeen Shores Sunday.

Kyle Mills opened scoring Saturday against the Predators assisted from James McCarthy. Brock Boville would follow with another in the first, again assisted by McCarthy. Lambton would creep back to within one before the first period buzzer would sound but Mills would take back the 2 goal lead as play continued in the 2nd. Caleb Templeman and Jarrett VanBakel would add points on that goal. The YNCU atoms stayed strong and held off many of the Predators chances but the opposition also held the boys to a blank in the third period. Dispite a 3rd period goal for Lambton the Meteors held their lead and closed out the match for a 3-2 win, hanging up the first "W" of the weekend.

Sunday was a trip to Port Elgin and a drive to avenge a 5-2 loss to the Storm at home just a week before. And avenge they did, while the score may not have dictated the amazing play the YNCU boys put on the ice, the game was a display of what these boys are made of for all fans in attendance to see. The first period ended as a blank for both teams but the chances that Mitchell produced made it clear that something was brewing. The second brought goal 1 for Mitchell as Vincent Voros scored off Boville's pass. But this game wasn't just about scoring, the boys fluidly transitioned to defend and back checking by all forwards and intense play from the blueline group kept Saugeen disoriented. But the Storm would not back down and a hard slap shot off a draw in Mitchell's end seemed to add a fuel to their fire as Hayden Beuermann stepped up to stop the rocket and every grueling challenge sent his way as the game continued. The third period kept all fans on the edge of the bleachers with an array of chances both ways but the YNCU atoms stayed focused on the task at hand and Voros added a second for Mitchell as McCarthy picked up his third point for the weekend. It would close with a 2-0 victory and well earned shutout for Beuermann and all the boys as they put the past few difficult playoff games behind and sported a great swagger all weekend long. Great work fellas, when you boys get rolling it truly is a marvel to behold.
