Your Neighborhood Credit Union Atom Rep boys start tournament with a pair of W's
The YNCU Meteors opened up the 2017 Maple Syrup Country Tournament in strong fashion as they powered their way through the first two games. Friday afternoon after a long drive northward the boys squared off to the Bancroft Jets in the hosting center arena in Elmvale. Dispite some early concern the boys would quickly ignite their legs and find the stride we are all a custom to. This morning was a trip into the long beach of Wasaga for a coffee time bout against South Muskoka. It was a chippy match that saw striped arms up a few times but for the most part it was left to the boys to play through and fend off the Bear attack.

The Jets would take advantage of the reps traveling legs as they would wrap the boys in their own zone and score with less then a minute off the opening whistle. But nothing ramps up the YNCU atoms like watching another team celebrate an early marker. The chances almost instantly swung Mitchell's way and the game would be back in a deadlock before the first period buzzer. Caleb Templeman with help from James McCarthy and the 2nd would start all squared. Jarrett VanBakel would take a lead in the second and Josh French would extend with a Vincent Voros and VanBakel assist. With a 2 goal advantage to get the 3rd rolling the boys kept pedal down. Defender Daniel Ogilvie added goal 4 and despite the elation from Reggie Sr. the young Reggie Jr. shrugged it off and lined up to go right back to work. The games eventual MVP Brock Boville would score the 5th as he displayed that hard work from start to finish will always pay dividends and Voros would ring to 6th as the boys just wore out the opposition. The 6-1 final gave the team a great reason to celebrate with a team meal as they share this last weekend of the season together.

As mentioned the game at the beach was chippy but the matchup would be a good physical challenge to start the boys Saturday. Scoring became plentiful as Voros would trick out before the second buzzer. Voros would add 4th early 3rd period but with an oh so perfect pass from behind the net from Boville who was fed from Kyle Mills. Templeman would again find his number on the sheet and the YNCU Meteors played out to a 6-0 final. So far it's been a blast and we are all sure of the great hockey to come.
