Your Neighborhood Credit Union Atom Rep give their fans the joy of the season and 5 of 8 points to ring in Christmas
The YNCU rep boys left themselves little time for Christmas shopping as they hit the ice for four games and a practice in their week leading up to the jolly man's visit. But this potential problem would not phase the boys as they collectively decided to give their gifts to us on the ice, playing four great games and gobbling up 5 of the available 8 points to enter the holiday break.

The Meteor boys would open the week against Hanover, a formidable opponent so far this year as the Falcons have taken the first two meetings. Hanover would open the scoring early in the second with two bang bang goals that temporarily let the air out of front yard inflatable Santa. But with a deep breath the boys would get the jolly man back on his feet and standing tall as Vincent Voros scored mid second period and Jarrett VanBakel would tie with assist from Jack Small. The third period brought the fans a great spectacle of chances both ways and the defensive play by Kellen Russworm, Daniel Ogilvie, Caleb Templeman and Rhett Terpstra as well as the strong back checking by Brock Boville and James McCarthy would help to keep the Falcons from scoring and leave the opportunity for Voros to net the winning goal with just over a minute left in the game. The 3-2 win gave the boys the first 2 points to be wrapped up for the fans.

Monday night was a trip to the bright Star in Seaforth to visit a team greatly improved as the season has worn on. The first goal would come from VanBakel as he would stay strong on the puck dispite getting hurt on the play, assist for the lone 1st period goal coming from Kyle Mills. Late 2nd period would see the Stars notch a tie but a quick follow up from Voros would facilitate the boys opening up the 3rd with the one goal lead. The pressure from the Your Neighborhood Credit Union Meteors would surmount to be too much in the 3rd for Seaforth as VanBakel would add another and Boville would also score while Templeman would add a point in the 4-1 final. It added 2 more points as the boys moved to a rest day followed by a practice day.

Thursday night brought the Listowel Cyclones south for what all the analysts said would be stellar display of hockey greatness as the two hwy 23 powerhouses would square off. Listowel would find the back of the net first with a goal mid 1st period. The YNCU atoms would answer very early in the 2nd with Voros first goal of three on the night. His second and third would both come early in the third frame with McCarthy, Small and Boville all taking away points of their own on the Voros hat trick. But a two goal lead just didn't feel safe against an opponent like Listowel and sure enough the Cyclones used the middle of the 3rd to even back up with the Mitchell crew. Goalie Hayden Beuermann was unwavered as he remained strong closing out the game as a tie for the boys to throw a 5th point into the gift bag.

Friday at home the Meteors hosted the Kincardine Kinucks to cap a week of tough competition. Despite a late first period goal Beuermann was again on his game turning away shot after shot from the Kinucks. The YNCU atoms answer to the goal late in the second as VanBakel would tie off a beauty pass from Josh French. Kincardine would score again in the third to take the lead back on a power play goal but Boville would answer to pull back to the tie. Unfortunately a quick face off blitz following the Boville goal would lead the Kinucks down to the Meteors zone and their lead would be back just 20 seconds later. The Meteor boys would push hard and with a late game power play things looked hopeful but just a few seconds into the man advantage the chance was gone as one of the home team ended up in the box as well. The buzzer would sound with the visitors up 3-2 but with a five point week it's hard not to see the bright side of things.

A great week of hockey boys and your giving spirit will sure to have made Santa's choice of naughty or nice an easy one. With just one make up game remaining in the season the boys look forward to seeing what the playoffs will bring them. Happy Holidays all and I look forward to writing you the Your Neighborhood Credit Union Atom Rep boys accomplishments in the new year!
