Atom LL, U11 Boys, 2017-2018 (Mitchell Minor Hockey)

Friday January 5th – 7:55am – South Huron Sabres Red The MCR Atom LL team started off the Dairy Queen Tournament on Friday January 5th against the host team, South Huron Sabres Red.  It was an early rise for the team with the puck dropping at 7:55am.  Both teams came out strong hoping to get a first game win.  The first period was a head-to-head battle with both teams’ defence battling hard to keep that puck out of their nets.  After a strong 10 minutes, the first period ended in a scoreless tie.

December 16th – Dorchester The MCR Atom LL started the Zurich tournament as the home team facing off against Dorchester.  Both teams seemed evenly matched with some great back-to-back action.  With 57 seconds left in the 1st, Zackary Siemon-Hergott shot the puck right through the five hole with a great assist coming from Griffin Bree.  But the action didn’t stop there, 12 seconds later Griffin sped down the ice to get Mitchell’s 2nd goal in the 1st period.  Dorchester stepped up and right from the face-off, with 25 seconds left in the first, landed their first goal.

MCR Atom LL team headed back to Monkton for a home game facing off against Blyth. Blyth came out strong from the faceoff and straight down into the Mitchell zone, after many great saves from Aedan McCann, Blyth continued to rebound and snuck that puck to the back of the net.  Mitchell held their head high and continued to fight which lead to no additional goals from either team in the first and a scoreless second.

MCR Atom LL team faced off against the Goderich Sailors on December 9th in Monkton. The first period sure was fast-paced with both teams fighting for that first goal.  With an action packed first period neither team could line up that goal leaving the score 0-0.

MCR Atom LL faced off with BCH 1 Parr Line for the second time this month. With a fast start to the game, both teams tried to hold down their end, but unfortunately BCH squeezed by with a goal to take the lead.  Aedan decided to kick it up a gear, stopping a few breakaways with some amazing robs.  With less than a 1 minute in the first, Griffen shot straight to the top of the net – tying the score.
