MCR Atom LL team headed back to Monkton for a home game
facing off against Blyth.
Blyth came out strong from the faceoff and straight down into the Mitchell
zone, after many great saves from Aedan McCann, Blyth continued to rebound and
snuck that puck to the back of the net.
Mitchell held their head high and continued to fight which lead to no
additional goals from either team in the first and a scoreless second.
Early in the third, the team of Rogan Catalan, Bentley Phillips, and Lucas Bree were eager to get that goal to tie the game. After many attempts, they kept digging until Rogan Catalan finally found that sweet spot getting Mitchell’s first goal of the game with assists coming from Bentley Phillips and Lucas Bree.
2 minutes later, Bradley Dearing broke away from the pack and got that sweet top corner goal putting Mitchell ahead by 1. Unfortunately 7 seconds later, Blyth landed a shorthanded goal to tie the game.
Mitchell wasn’t going to let the score defeat them. At the 4 minute mark, Zackary Siemon-Hergott landed a nice shot straight into the back of Blyth’s net. Tyler Scherbarth then set up Kara Rolph for a back-handed goal at the 2 minute mark ending the game with a 4-2 win for Mitchell.
Good hard-fought game by both sides making for some great end-to-end action for the fans! Keep it up Mitchell!
