The Mashup in Monkton
The second game of the season for the Mitchell MCR Atom LL boys was at home in Monkton against the Kincardine Kinucks 2 Superheat.  The first period started off fast-paced with Mitchell’s first goal coming at 24 seconds by Kara Rolph from Rogan Catalan.  The pace didn’t slow down with Kincardine tying the score with 2 minutes left in the first.  Kincardine jumped ahead early in the second period with their second goal.  Zackary Siemon-Hergott turned up the heat to tie the score at 2-2 from a great pass from Matthew Menheere.  With less than 2 minutes left in the second, Tyler Scherbarth was eager to regain our lead  and netted the go-ahead goal with an unassisted shot from center line!

In the third, the intense action continued with a cluster of 7 shots on the Mitchell goal.  Amazing overall teamwork, with everyone putting in that extra effort, kept the puck out of the net, including an awesome diving save from Charlie Wolfe.  Just as this flurry of action at our net was cleared, Mitchell marched down the ice to score their 4th goal of the game.  Again, great teamwork and great passing with Matthew Menheere & Rogan Catalan setting up Bentley Phillips’s back of the net goal.  Kincardine kept up the pressure scoring at the 1 minute mark.  However, Mitchell hung tough shutting down the 6-man Kincardine final minute rush with the final score of 4-3 for Mitchell.  Wow, what a game – great teamwork guys!
