Pee Wee AE’s split games with Kincardine
Submitted By PJ Marshall on Sun 01 29, 17
The New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE Mitchell Meteors split the first two games of their second round play down series with the Kincardine Kinucks this week.

Mitchell travelled to Tiverton Wednesday night to play the Kinucks.  The Meteors opened the scoring on an unassisted goal by Damen Roobroeck just 3 minutes into the first period.  That would be all the offence that Mitchell could muster that night, and it wouldn’t be enough.  The Kinucks would tie it up late in the second period and take the lead for good in the third for a 2-1 lead.  Kincardine would also score a couple of empty net goals late to win the opener 4-1.  Brennan Vander Kuylen played well in net despite taking the loss.

The series headed back to Monkton for game 2 Sunday night.  Like the first game it was a tight back and forth game.  PJ Marshall put the Meteors up 1 midway through the first scoring assisted by Joey Adam.  Kincardine tied it up midway less than a minute later.

Kincardine took the lead 2 and ½ minutes into the second period, but like the Meteors lead in the first it would not last long as Marshall scored his second of the game 2 minutes later.  Kincardine would score once more in the second to take a 3-2 lead into the dressing room after the second period.

The Meteors came out flying for the third and were rewarded with a goal by Cole Hannon two minutes into the third to tie it 3-3.  The two teams would battle back and forth throughout the rest of the third, with Mitchell goalie Kody Eisler and the Kincardine goal making numerous key saves.    Finally with just 9 seconds left on the clock and overtime looming PJ Marshall was able to complete the hat-trick and score the game winning goal off of a scramble in front of the net for the 4-3 home ice win and tie the series up at 1 each.
