The New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE Mitchell Meteors
dropped both games this weekend to the Kincardine Kinucks to lose their second
round OMHA play down series 3 games to 1.
Friday night in Mitchell, the Kinucks came out quick against the Meteors and were ahead 2-0 before 4 minutes had been played in the first. Mitchell settled down some and the score remained that way until Kincardine managed to score a third one with a minute left in the second period. The Meteors came out fighting in the third. Xavier Lorenz got Mitchell back into the game 2 minutes into the third with a goal assisted by Cole Hannon. Mitchell kept up the attack throughout the period and were finally rewarded with a second goal by Joey Adam assisted by Damen Roobroeck with just under a minute left in the game and the goalie on the bench in favour of an extra player. This set up a frantic last minute of play as the Meteors tried desperately to even the score and the Kinucks tried just as desperately to stop them. Despite a couple of oh so close chance Mitchell fell short of the comeback.
Saturday afternoon the New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE Mitchell Meteors travelled to Kincardine for game 4 of the series. The Kinucks opened the scoring early in the first period. The goal just seemed to take the air out of the Meteors who never really got their skating going. Kincardine would add goals in each of the next 2 periods to win 3-0 and take the series from the Meteors.
