Pee Wee AE’s advance to league finals
The New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE Mitchell Meteors won a pair of big game this weekend to advance to the WOAA Neilson League finals.

The New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE Mitchell Meteors opened the weekend with a big win against the TDCJHA Rebels Saturday afternoon in Monkton.

The Meteors started slow with the Rebels dominating play in the first period.  Only good goaltending by Kody Eisler kept the game scoreless after the first period.

TCDMHA opened the scoring early in the second period.  It was after that goal the Mitchell seemed to get their legs going and the momentum slowly started to shift.  The Meteors could not take advantage and the second period ended with the Rebels up 1-0.

The third started the same the second ended with the Meteors keeping the pressure on but unable to score.  Finally with just over five minutes left in the game PJ Marshall found the back of the net to tie the game at 1 with an assist to Logan Ruby.  The Meteors were even more energized after that goal and kept attacking the Rebels goal.  Less than three minutes later Marshall scored again from Joey Adam and Andreas Harmer.  The Meteors would hold on to win the game 2-1.

Sunday night in Listowel the New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE Mitchell Meteors clinched a spot in the finals with a 5-2 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

PJ Marshall opened the scoring halfway through the first period with assists from Andreas Harmer and Joey Adam and the Meteor would never look back.

Cole Hannon added to the Meteor lead with a goal three minutes into the second with the assist going to Harmer.  Marshall scored his second of the game with just over two minutes left in the third; Xavier Lorenz got the helper on the goal.  Listowel would get on the board with a power play goal with just 13 seconds left in the period.

The Meteors kept the pressure on the home team throughout the third period.  Damen Roebroeck was rewarded with a goal with six minutes left in the game with Hannon and Kaeden Meinen getting assists.  Listowel scored once more late but the Meteors answered right back with a goal with just under a minute left from Lorenz with assists to Adam and Marshall.

Brennan Vanderkuylen played well in net to earn the win, the defence pairing of Even O’Rourke and Logan Ruby also played a great game.

The New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE Mitchell Meteors will play the TDCMHA Rebels for the WOAA Neilson League championship in a best of three series.
