Tough Loss For Atom AE's In WOAA Finals Opening Game
The Thompsons Atom AE Meteors hosted the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs in game one of the WOAA Neilson Division finals on Saturday. The Meteors would show a great effort from the first whistle of the game, but would be unable to beat the Ice Dogs goalie in the 3-0 loss on home ice.
In the first period the Meteors would put strong pressure on the Ice Dogs controlling the majority of the play and coming up with several good scoring chances, but with just seconds left in the period, the Ice Dogs would score their first in a goal mouth scramble. In the second period the Meteors would kill off two consecutive penalties and come up with more scoring chances before the Ice Dogs would add another goal with just over four minutes left in the period. The third period would see Kyle Mills, James McCarthy and Noah Mann all with strong shots and good scoring chances on the Ice Dogs net minder, but the Meteors would be unable to get the puck past the goalie. The Ice Dogs would add one more goal to their total and take game one in the series with a score of 3-0.
Game two will be played tomorrow in Paisley and the Meteors will bring their strong effort and determination as they look for a win to push forth in the best of three series.
