Atom AE's Win WOAA Championship
The Thompsons Atom AE Meteors capped off an incredible playoff run Saturday night in Mitchell with an exciting 2-1 victory over the Arran-Elderslie IceDogs. The locals would bounce back after losing the first game of the best of three with two edge of your seat thrilling victories to win the WOAA Neilson Division Championship.

The scoreless first period on Saturday would see tight checking from both teams without too many scoring chances. The second frame saw James McCarthy open the scoring with his first of two on the night. The opening goal came from a difficult angle with assists from Ethan Meinen and Jaxen Hartwig. A mere four minutes later McCarthy would break in all alone to the right of the AEMHA goalie and he would fire a short-sided high wrist shot to the back of the net to give the Meteors a insurmountable 2-0 lead. The Mitchell defence lead by Jake Crowley, Logan Ruby, Lucas Roobroeck, Evan O'Rourke and Blake Redfern would do a great job of forcing the IceDogs to the boards and away from their goaltender Brennan Vanderkuylen during the entire game.

In the third period the Meteors would continue tenacious forechecking from the likes of Kyle Mills, Caleb Templeman, Noah Mann, and Brayden Glauser. As the clock ticked down AEMHA would break Vanderkuylen's shutout with just 37 seconds remaining on a power play with their goalie on the bench. However, Mitchell would keep the visitors away from their net as time expired on the season and a 2-1 victory.

Great season boys!!!
