Ilderton Ties Series With Atom AE's
On Sunday evening the Thompsons Atom AE Meteors hosted the Ilderton Jets in Monkton. Heading into the game, Mitchell was up 3-1 in the six point OMHA series. The evenly matched teams would open the game with end to end play and would finish the first period with no goals on the board.
The hard fought battles would continue into the second period when Noah Mann would get a hold of the puck deep in the Ildeton zone and make a perfect top shelf shot to put the Meteors on the board at the mid point of the period. Two minutes later in Mitchell's end, goalie Brennen VanderKuylen would knock down a hard shot, but it would trickle past him into the net and the Jets would tie the game at one. Mitchell's strong defensive play in the series continued as during the last minute of play in the period, the Meteors would find themselves with three players in the penalty box and the strong triangle in front of Vanderkuylen was able to hold the Jets off the scoreboard to end the period.
The third period would see Ilderton take the lead and despite continued strong play and excellent effort from the Meteors, the goal would remain unanswered leaving the final score at 2-1. The Meteors will look to retake the lead in the series in Ilderton on Tuesday evening.
