OMHA Semi-Final Opener Ends In A Tie
On Friday night, the Thompsons Atom AE Meteors hosted Ilderton in game one of their six-point OMHA series. The game was fast-paced and exciting from the first puck drop. The Meteors got on the scoreboard early in the first, as James McCarthy picked up the puck at Ilderton's blue line and made a perfect shot from high in the slot to score. The teams would continue to battle in end to end action, each team putting pressure on the other until Mitchell would score again in the second period as Caleb Templeman would knock in the puck from Brayden Glauser as the unit put heavy pressure on the Ilderton goalie.

Ildterton would manage to tie the game in the third period, despite an outstanding effort by goalie Brennen Vanderkuylen. The teams would head to a 10 minute overtime and both squads would come out firing. Vanderkuylen kept his team in the game under heavy pressure making several key saves. Mitchell would also have their scoring chances shut down by the Ilderton goalie. With 10 seconds left in the game Ilderton was awarded a penalty shot. Fans were on the edge of their seats as they watched Vanderkuylen shut down the opponent with a poke check to make the save. The game would remain a tie giving each team one point and setting the stage for game two in Ilderton on Saturday.
