Atom AE's Defeat Zurich Thunder
On Wednesday evening the Mitchell Meteor Atom AE's travelled to Zurich to play the Thunder for WOAA round robin playoffs. The Meteors opened the game strong and took a 1-0 lead 5 minutes into the game as Brayden Glauser and Kyle Mills passed the puck from behind the net up to Noah Mann who would beat the Zurich goalie.
In the second period Zurich would apply pressure to the Meteors who had some trouble clearing the puck from their own end, but strong goaltending from Brennen Vanderkuylen would keep the Meteors in the lead. As the second period wore on, both teams would battle hard in end to end action, but neither team would find the net.
Mitchell would score three more goals in the third period as they fought for some insurance and held on to the lead. The Meteors Brayden Glauser would add two and Kyle Mills would score one, all unassisted goals in the period. Zurich would manage one of their own with six minutes left, on a power play to bring the final score to 4-1.
Round robin play will continue on the weekend for the Atom AE's as they will host Zurich on Saturday and Listowel on Sunday.
