Cyclones Take Down Meteors
The Thompsons Atom AE Meteors traveled to Listowel on Saturday afternoon and faced a challenging game but with determined play were able to avert a shut out loss in the final minutes. The Listowel Cyclones would score early in the first period and would dominate the play in the first 10 minutes leading to a score of 2-0 after one.
The Meteors picked up the pace in the second and third period but struggled to keep the puck in the Cyclones end. The Meteors were able to hold the score within reach with good defensive play in front of their own net. The third period saw Meteor's goalie Brennen Vanderkylen make several saves under pressure to keep his team in the game. With two minutes left in the game and facing a 3-0 shutout loss, Meteor's James McCarthy would find the net with help from Brayden Glauser and Lucas Roobroeck to put Mitchell on the scoreboard. Listowel would then answer back for a final goal to end the game with a score of 4-1.
The Meteors will look to bounce back with a win Sunday evening against Wingham.
