Atom AE's Drop Season Opener to Saugeen Shores
The Thompsons Mitchell Atom AE Meteors travelled to Port Elgin Saturday afternoon for their regular season opener and fell to the Saugeen Shores Storm by a score of 7-2.
The home side came out gunning and hemmed the Meteors in their own end for long stretches in the first period. By the time the opening frame was complete Mitchell found themselves down by a score of 4-0. The Meteors settled down in the second as the team began to generate a few offensive opportunities including Brayden Glauser ringing one off the inside of the post but failing to find the back of the net. The Storm would score one in that period to lead 5-0 after two.
In the third period both sides would score two goals to make the final 7-2. Glauser would get Mitchell's first goal as he beat the Storm goalie to the blocker side. Ethan Meinen would then round out the scoring with a breakaway goal.
The boys will look to rebound Sunday night as they host the Kincardine Kinucks.
