Meteors Shut Out BCH
The Thompsons Atom AE Meteors played BCH at home on Friday and recorded their second straight shutout this week. It was a defensive battle as both teams worked hard to keep the puck out of their end. As a result, neither team had many chances to get a shot on net through both the first and second periods.
Mitchell's determination showed through in the third period as they stepped up their offensive play. Both Brayden Glauser and Lucas Roobroeck would get the best scoring chances of the game but would each be robbed by the post. Finally with just under seven minutes left to play, after a battle in front of BCH's net Noah Mann would be able to tap in the puck for the game's only goal with assists going to James McCarthy and Jake Crowley.
The entire Meteor squad played well defensively with strong play in their own end with the help of determined backchecking. BCH put pressure on the Meteors in the dying minutes of the game but goalie Brennen Vanderkuylen would preform an acrobatic save as the final buzzer rang to preserve the shut out.
The Atom AE's will play in Zurich next Wednesday as they look to get their first win on the road this season.
