Cylcones Nip Meteors in Exhibition Play
The Mitchell Meteor Atom AE team started their season off with an exhibition game against Listowel on Saturday afternoon. The team hit the ice with enthusiasm and kept a strong pace of play through the entire game. The first period saw both teams battle hard for the puck with end to end action but no goals would be scored at the end of ten minutes of play.
Listowel would find the net first with minutes to play in the second period. The Meteors would answer back early in the third period with a goal by Brayden Glauser with assists going to Lucas Roobroeck and Kyle Mills.
The Cyclones would not give up easily and would net their second goal despite the great play of Meteors goalie Brennen Vanderkuylen. Vanderkuylen would make several key saves as the time dwindled on the clock to keep his team in the game. The Meteors pushed hard in the final minutes to tie the game, and despite some great chances by Roobroeck, Mills and Caleb Templeman the Listowel goalie could not be beaten. Listowel would take the game with a final score of 2-1.
