Silver for Atom LL
Mitchell Meteors Atom LL MCR Advanced Collision team came away with a silver medal in the Atom LL Drayton tournament on Saturday, January 3, winning 2 and losing 1 game.

Their first challenge of the tournament was facing Newmarket, who quickly took the lead with a goal within 30 seconds of the game.  Towards the end of the first period, Brandon Dietrich and Jason Mills help set up Kyle Mills with a pass directly out in front of the net for him to score, making it 1-1.  The Meteors had many chances to score during the second period but were unable to break the tie until Basil Voros finally tucked the puck in the Newmarket net with 3 minutes left in the third period giving them the 2-1 win.

The next game, against Oak Ridges was another tight win for Mitchell. The first period had exciting moments when Brennen Vanderkuylen made a beautiful save on a breakaway and two quick shots on net from Voros and Logan Ruby with one minute left. The only two games of the game came in the second period. Jason Mills scored on a breakaway after receiving a pass from Keegan Hunt and Voros scored after picking a rebound from Logan Ruby's shot on net. Oak Ridges scored in the third period but Mitchell's strong defensive team of Evan O'Rourke, Kaeden Meinen, Logan Ruby and Sam Huettlin were able to hold them off for a final score on 2-1, advancing them to the Champion A final.

For the final game, Mitchell faced Mildmay for a tough game. Mildmay scored first on a power play but Jason Mills backhanded the puck in for Mitchell's first goal, assisted by Logan Ruby and Andreas Harmer.  Two more goals were scored by the other team at the beginning of the second period even though Sam Huettlin and Jack Steinbach had two great chances to score. Jason Mills was finally able to flip the puck over the goalie's stick for the second goal, once again assisted by Ruby and Harmer.  The third period saw one more goal for Mildmay bringing the final score of 4-2.

The team played very well throughout the day and proudly brought home a silver medal!
