Meteors Open OMHA Playoffs; Split With Minto
The Scotiabank U15 Meteor Reps opened their OMHA Playoffs with a home-and-home against the Minto Mad Dogs, dropping the opening game 4-1 on Feb 4th in Palmerston, but rebounding for a 2-1 victory on home ice Feb 7th.

In a chippy penalty-filled affair on the road that saw a total of 36 PIM's, Minto scored the lone goal of the opening period before Charlie Geiger would tie it with a powerplay goal midway through the second period from Braden Hoegy and Ryan Glauser.  The Mad Dogs would then score three unanswered goals to cruise to a 4-1 win.
Looking to knot things up, the Meteors returned home on Feb 7th and delivered one of their best defensive efforts of the year.  Special teams dazzled all night, as the Meteors ran into penalty trouble again with 7 minor penalties but were only scored on once.
After a scoreless first period, cousins Hayden Nicholson and Bryce Otten both scored unassisted goals in the second to take a 2-0 lead after two periods of play.  Minto came out strong in the third, connecting on a powerplay goal early in the frame.  But the Meteor defense and goaltender Porter Smith held strong and shut the door to secure the 2-1 win.
