U11 LL's Remain Undefeated Early In the Season
The U11 LL sponsored by Mark Bannon Backhoe, had a pair of games on the road this weekend, as the team secured a pair of ties, to bring their undefeated streak to three.

Friday night, after a long day of school, the team made the drive to Goderich to face the C/V Sandwich U11’s for their first game of the weekend.  The team found themselves down by one at the end of the first period despite Beau Vandervelde and Liam Coyne working hard on the blue line to clear the puck out of the zone.  During the second period, the Meteors fought hard to try and advance the puck into Goderich’s end, as Luke Linton made several attempts to sneak one in, including a beautiful one legged shot, but the team remained down by one as the period drew to a close.  In the third, the Goderich defensemen did an outstanding job protecting their end, however, with less than two minutes left in the game, Liam Coyne carried the puck in, and Jack Lepelaars tipped in Mitchell’s lone goal and to tie up the game.

After a much needed rest, the Meteors made the early Saturday morning trek to Brussels to face the Blyth-Brussels Crusaders Burgundy team.  In an equally contested match-up, both teams carried the puck in and made the goaltenders work extra hard on both ends of the rink.  Mitchell did a great job defending the penalty kill, led by defence from Henry Schoonderwoerd, and Dylan McCleod, who did a fantastic job on the blue line, while Owen McCarthy and Miles Linton, worked hard to keep the pressure on the Brussel’s goaltender, however the team was unable to locate the back of the net to tie the game up.  Then as the final minutes saw the third period drawing to a close, Liam Coyne won the face-off draw, and with the persistence of Miles Linton who fired one in on the Goderich net, Coyne located the rebound in the traffic, and netted Mitchell’s only goal, to end the game in a hard-battled draw.  Collin Klumper had a solid two game outing in net for the Meteors.

The U11’s have some time to rest up this week, as they get set to prepare for their first tournament of the season at the Annual Bill Carnochan Memorial tournament hosted by the Seaforth Stars November 19-21.

Great weekend of hockey everyone!
