Year End Nail Biter Against BCH
The Mark Bannon U11 LL's were fired up and ready to go, on December 20th, when they made the Monday night road trip to face-off against the number one team in their division, the BCH Ice Dogs White.

Mitchell come out firing on all cylinders right off the face off.

With intense back and forth action throughout the first period that kept the fans in the stands on the edges of their seats, BCH notched the first goal of the game at the half way point of the 1st. Spencer Dick tried to answer back with quick wrap-around goal that Ice Dogs goalie stopped cold.  As the action continued in the period, Carter carried the puck into BCH territory and fired off a shot, to give Tyler a chance to bury the puck with a rebound shot, but the Meteors were once again robbed by the Ice Dogs netminder.

With the fans in the stands recovering their breath from the intense first period, the second period started off with Luke winning the face off and driving straight to the net to score Mitchell's first goal with a top shelf sniper. Team effort was gaining momentum as Owen went end to end to attack and try to pull the Meteors ahead, but was shut out by great goaltending by BCH. The Meteors were fired up, as everyone gave their all.  Miles worked hard along the boards making tape to tape passes out to his teammates, as the quick feet of Jack L saw him pull the puck out of the Meteors zone, and with the help of sniper slap shots from Cole at the point, the boys kept the pressure cooking on the Ice Dogs!  Quick defensive action along the blue line by Beau and Dylan, kept the puck in the Ice Dog's zone giving Daxton a chance to take a quick shot from the side, leaving a loose puck in front of the net.  The quick hands of Ethan, saw him able to knock it in for the second Meteors goal, as the period drew to a close.

Mitchell, with a one goal lead going into the third, fought with all they had to keep their parents anxiously on the edges of their seats! Luke fighting for the puck in front of the net, fired another hard wrist shot giving the Meteors a 3-1 lead. BCH fired up to try and re-gain their earlier lead, kept Collin busy between the pipes.  With multiple shots and scrambles in front of the net, and a 2 on 0 that was broken up with the solid back checking by Liam, the Meteors put a dramatic stop to the Ice Dogs offence. With just under 5 minutes to go, BCH added one more goal, making the rest of the period a nail biter for all in attendance.  But excellent teamwork by the Meteors, saw the U11's hold onto their one goal lead in an intense 3-2 final.

In what would be the team's final game of the 2021 calendar year, they pulled out all the stops, keeping their fans eagerly anticipating their next game in the new year.

Way to go Team!
See you all at the rink in January!
