U11LL Meteors Undefeated Season Continues
At the mid-point of December, the Mark Bannon Backhoe U11LL’s continue their undefeated regular season with a tie and win.

SEAFORTH:

December 11th, the Meteors made a Saturday morning road trip up to Seaforth to take on the Stars.

The first period saw lots of back and forth action, as shots were fired, but both goalies stood on their heads to prevent the other team from scoring first.  As the second period got underway, both teams were eager to net one but Daxton Baker would be the first with an unassisted beauty from off the face-off at 7:21.  The Meteors would remain up by one, until the third period when  Seaforth would tie it up with rebound in front of the net.  With just under four minutes to go in the game, Daxton would wrap the puck around the net out to Tyler Mahon who would tip it in for the go-ahead goal.  Seconds later, as the teams set up for the face-off , Seaforth would win the draw, and dump one in through the five-hole to tie up the game.  As the score-clock wound down,  the pace of the game increased, and the Stars would keep the Meteors defence busy on the blue line, but holding strong they helped ease the pressure off of Collin Klumper in net, and the game ended in an equally contested draw of 2 goals apiece.

WALKERTON:

December 12th, Walkerton Capitals Blue came to town, as they would be the next team to try and break the Meteors red-hot undefeated streak.

Mitchell was able to get on the score board quick by winning the face off and scoring 45 seconds in to the game. Later in the period, Henry Schoonderwoerd reached for the loose puck, and went end to end to find the back of the net, giving Mitchell a healthy 2 goal lead going into the second.

A beautiful pass from Mitchell’s Owen McCarthy set Dani Bree up for a tip-in goal in the second period.  As the period drew to a close, Walkerton was not backing down as they kept Landon Glauser busy between the pipes, however, they snuck one in at the end of the second for their first goal of the game..

Mitchell having a 3 to 1 lead going into the third period kept their adrenaline racing. The Meteors were making clean passes throughout the forward and defense lines, and had Walkerton on  the blades of their skates trying to fend them off, as Daxton Baker netted his second goal of the weekend. Later in the third, quick handed stick action from Luke Linton saw him steal the puck from Walkerton and snipe a wrist shot in, followed by a goal from Henry Schoonderwoerd from off the face-off.  The Meteors would remain undefeated with 6-1 victory over the Capitals.
