U11 LL's Prepare for Playoffs as Game Play Resumes
After a 5 week mandated hiatus from the end of 2021, the Mark Bannon Backhoe U11 LL’s returned from the great Ontario ODR’s with freshly sharpened blades, eager to take on the Seaforth Stars, as exhibition game play finally resumed February 5th, on home ice.

Maybe it was Coach McCarthy’s 50 Shot Drill Challenge during the break, or maybe it was his pre-game pep talk in the dressing room, but the grins on the kids faces were clearly evident behind their masks, as they excitedly lined up for their first game of the new year.

At the close of the first period, the Meteors found themselves trailing behind by one.  In the second, Tyler Mahon, assisted by Daxton Baxter, tied up the game three minutes into the period from a scramble in-front of the Stars net.  At the mid-point of the period, Cole Ulch netted a big backhander to pull the Meteors ahead by one, heading into the third.  Collin Klumper was ready with his glove hand, as he robbed the Stars from tying up the game early in the third with an impressive mic dropping save.  Late in the period, Jack Lepelaars and Dylan McCleod were busy on the blue line keeping the pressure on Stars inside their zone. Then with a minute and a half left to go, Carter Murray, and Miles Linton, fed the puck out to Daxton Baker, who scored his second goal of the game, as the team earned a solid 3-1 victory in exhibition action, proving to their coach they had in fact all been doing their homework over the break!

Playoff action gets underway for the team as they get set to take on the Zurich Thunder, February 6th in Zurich.
