The Mitchell Legion Peewee LL sweep weekend games
Dearing backstops the Peewee’s with back to back shutouts!


On Saturday night, the Peewee’s took on BCH in a fast paced, end to end game with the local’s coming out on top 9-0.

In the first period, Ryan Hubbard opened the scoring with a solo effort.  Later on in the period Zack Bilyea banged in a rebound from a Jeromy Vandewalle shot, Jaxen Hartwig got the other assist.  30 seconds later, Calum Harris added to the goal total with the assists going to Payton Wood and Hubbard.  At the end of the first it was 3-0 Mitchell.

The second was a spirted affair with Mitchell getting the lone goal.  Hubbard put the puck past the BCH goalie with Wood and Colby Ryan getting the assists.

In the third period it was all Mitchell with the team scoring 5 goals in the frame to put the game out of hand.  Hartwig opened the scoring in the closing frame with Ryan getting the helper.  Vandewalle adding to the goal total 20 seconds later with Hubbard with the assist.  Part way through the third, Joel Meinen would replace Ethan Dearing to finish up the game.  Hubbard would get the hat trick with a solo effort half way through the period.  Hartwig got his second goal of the period off a bank shot off the goalie from behind the net and Hubbard and Harris would connect for Mitchell’s last goal.

 

A good start to the weekend!

 

ON Sunday night, the Mitchell Legion Peewee’s would travel to Wingham to take on the Ironmen.

In the first period Colby Ryan would open the scoring with a blast from the point from a Zach Huygen pass to put Mitchell up 1-0.  This would be the only goal of the period.  Ethan Dearing would make key saves to keep Mitchell in the game.

The second period would only see one goal as Ryan Hubbard would tuck one in on a wrap around to make it 2-0.

The third seen the Peewee’s put the petal to the metal as they exploded for 4 goals in the frame.  Hubbard would start it off by banging in his own rebound after a great pass from Bradley Dearing.  Payton Wood would add to the goal total with a blast from the point form passes from Huygen and Nolan Vessie.  Hubbard would get hat trick on back to back games as he would stick handle through the Wingham team with Jaxen Hartwig getting the assist.  Hubbard would tap in the final goal from a Colby Ryan shot from the point to make the game 6-0.  Dearing stood tall for the team to get his second shutout of the weekend.

 

The boys will enjoy a week off before they play New Hamburg in exhibition play on Dec 21st
