Mitchell Legion PeeWee LL's go 3-1 in Wainfleet
The Mitchell Legion PeeWee LL Boys traveled east Friday for a well anticipated tournament Family day weekend down at the Falls.

With lots to do at the hotel in Niagara the lads had to take the half hour hike over to the arena in Wainfleet for a dinner time game against a familiar opponent the Listowel Cyclones.   Once the boys got to the arena they decided that they would play this tournament from the heart for recently resigned coach Brooks. Just three minutes into the game big bad Zack Bilyea would find the back of the net assisted by Payton Wood and Calum Harris. The second period the Meteors were held scoreless but the Cyclones were able to slip one past Mitchell goalie Ethan "Smurf" Dearing.  The boys stayed calm in the third and the score stayed tied until the 2:16 mark of the third when Ryan Hubbard was able the rip the eventual game winner by the Listowel goalie unassisted.  In the final minute Listowel decided to pull their goalie and Wade Campbell took over and buried a pair of empty net goals to make the final 4-1 Mitchell.  MVP for the game went to Tyler "Seagull" Scherbarth.

Game 2 was Saturday at 11:00 am against a very good team from Delhi.   The first two periods were back and forth with both teams exchanging chances but nobody could slide anything by either goaltender.  Just a minute into the third Campbell was able to bury the biscuit assisted by Jake Crowley and Nolan Vessie but the lead didn't last long as the Rockets tied it up just 32 seconds later.  Again both teams were battling hard to get the winner but with just 1:55 left in the third "the big clutch Hub" again would pot the winner for the second game in a row assisted by "Captain Crowley" and Harris.   To make the final 2-1 Meteors and the MVP award would go to Nolan “the Vessel” Vessie.

After the round Robin the boys would finish third which means they would have to play again Saturday afternoon in the quarter finals against a team from Ayr.  Just two minutes into the game Vessie would find the back of the net assisted by Hubbard.  On the same shift Vessie would pot his second of the shift assisted by Wood and Hubbard.   Just two minutes later Hub would score his first of three in the game with assists coming from Wood and Bradley Dearing.   Late in the second Colby Ryan assisted by Jaxen Hartwig and Jeromy Vandewalle.   Then "Big Z" would barrier a rocket coming off the half boards that we weren't sure the goalie ever seen unassisted.   With just .6 seconds left in the second "birthday boy" Zach Huygen would bust through three defenders at the blueline to walk in alone looking a little like Connor McDavid to rip his first of the weekend assisted by Liam Brodhagen.   Campbell would get on the board in the final frame assisted by Huygen and Hartwig.   MVP for that game went to "Birthday Boy Huygen".

Off to the semi Finals Sunday morning against a home town undefeated Wainfleet Wild.  In the round robin the Wild had yet to given up a goal so we knew that we needed to come out ready to roll.  Just five minutes into the game "Big Z" found the back of the net with the assist coming to Wood.  With just 19 seconds left in the first Wainfleet was able to tie it up.  Both teams had many of chances through the second but nobody was able to light the lamp.   Midway through the third the home team was able to take the wind out of our sail and put an end to our hockey weekend. The refs gave us a power play for the final two minutes of the game but we just weren't able to even things up.  MVP for this one was Bradley “Big Dipper” Dearing.

So even though our tournament was over we had a record of 3-1 and outscored our opponents 16-4 so all and all it was a successful tournament. Also the boys will have many memories from both the Wainfleet rink as well as many memories from the Falls where they spent their time away from the game.  All and all a great family day weekend! Great job boys!!
