Mitchell Legion Peewee LL’s sweep weekend games
Peewee’s end the regular season on a high note by winning their last three games

On Friday night the Mitchell Legion Peewee LL’s were in Monkton to take on the Central Perth Predators in league action.  In the first period, Central Perth opened the scoring to make it 1-0.  During some penalty trouble, it was Jeromy Vandewalle that opened the scoring with an unassisted short-handed marker to tie the game up at 1-1.  Central Perth would come right back in the period to lead again 2-1 at the end of the period.

In the second, penalty troubles continued, and Central Perth once again scored on the powerplay to make to 3-1.  Ryan Hubbard got the team back within one by sneaking a goal past the goalie on the short side to make it 3-2.  Liam Brodhagen got the lone assist on the goal.  Vandewalle scored his second short Handed goal of the game after Tyler Scherbarth sprung him free to tie the game up once again at 3-3.  Hubbard would put the local squad up 4-3 with a great individual effort.

In the third, it was a fast paced and tight checking affair.  Ethan Dearing did an excellent job by keeping the Central Perth team at bay and leading the LL’s to a 4-3 victory.

On Saturday night, the boys were again in Monkton to take on the Minto Mad Dogs.  Right from the start the team came out ready to play as they dictated the pace of play and kept the action in the Mad Dog end for most of the period.  Ryan Hubbard got the team on the board half way through the period with assists from Bradley Dearing and Calum Harris.

The second period saw Minto tied the game up. Mitchell got into some penalty trouble, but the defensive core of Colby Ryan, Liam Brodhagen, Jaxen Hartwig and Jake Crowley were up to the task of keeping the scoring chances to a minimum.

In the third period, it was Hubbard who got a pass from Payton Wood and put the puck in the back of the net to put the team up for good.  The goaltending combination of Ethan Dearing and Joel Meinen make great save after great save to keep the boys in the game.

Final score 2-1.
