You can’t start a win steak without winning the first one
On Tuesday night, the Mitchell Meteors Legion Br 182 Peewee LL squad took on the Listowel Cyclones in a spirited affair in Monkton with the local team coming out on top 8-3

In the first Mitchell opened the scoring 15 seconds into the opening frame with a nice tape to tape pass from Zach Bulyea and Ryan Hubbard to Jeremy Vandewalle for the goal.  Listowel would come back a few minutes later to tie it up at 1-1 with a one-time from the slot.  The rest of the period would be tight checking ending the period at 1-1.

The second period, Mitchell put in the pressure to the Listowel team resulting in 4 goals in the period.  Goals starting from Jake Crowley, assisted by Hubbard 3 minutes into the period.  Nolan Vessie would score a few minutes later on a bang bang play.  The goal assisted by Payton Wood and Bradley Dearing.  Corwley would score 30 seconds later on an individual effort.  Calum Harris would join in on the goal scoring by batting the puck in an airborne rebound from a Wade Campbell shot.  The home side would end the period up 5-1

The third period would see the two teams trade goals the whole period.  Listowel would start the scoring with a short-handed marker to make it 5-2.  Tyler Scherbarth would score a beauty goal on a breakaway set up by Vandewalle and Wood to make it 6-2.  Zack Huygen tapped in a rebound from a Hubbard shot to put the locals up 7-2.  Listowel would score later in the period on the powerplay to make it 7-3.  Then Campbell would finish off the scoring with a wrist shot in the slot from a great pass from Jaxon Hartwig.

All and all it was a great game to start the season off on.  The Peewee LL has the rest of the week to rest up before taking on the Seaforth Stars in Seaforth on Saturday afternoon.
