Miller's Hat Trick Leads PeeWee AE's in Opener
The New Orleans Pizza PeeWee AE Meteors made the long trip to Collingwood Saturday afternoon to face the Blackhawks in their opening game of the OMHA Quarter-Finals. Tenacious checking in all three zones would propel the visitors to a 4-2 victory and a two points to zero lead in the six-point series.

Jack Miller would get the only goal of the first period, and his first of three on a shot under the crossbar from the high slot. The goal was a result of excellent checking at both ends by Ethan Meinen.

Neither team would hit the back of the net in the second period as Meteors goalie Keagen Meinen would smartly turn aside all shots with the help of the steady play of Mitchell's defence consisting of Bryce Otten, Hayden Nicholson, Blake Redfern, Lucas Mahon and Jack Van Loon.

Mitchell would go up two goals early in the third period as Miller would once again score, this time on a backhander off of a face-off win deep in the Collingwood end. Charlie Geiger and Carter O'Brien would tally assists. The Meteors would go up 3-0 a few minutes later as Grayson Yost would intercept a pass at the offensive blue line, avoid the Blackhawks defenceman and beat the home goalie low to the glove side. Collingwood would make the game interesting in the final few minutes of the game with a pair of goals before Miller would block a last ditch effort by the Blackhawks and fire his hat trick goal into an empty net just before the final buzzer.

The two teams will face each other in Game 2 in Mitchell on Sunday evening at 6:30pm.
