Meteors Top Storm in Series Opener
The New Orleans Pizza PeeWee AE's hosted the Saugeen Shores Storm on Saturday evening in the series opener of their second round of the OMHA Playdowns. The home side would come away with a well deserved 5-1 victory.

The only goal of the first period would come off the stick of Carter O'Brien as he would capitalize on a breakaway by beating the Storm goalie to the glove side.

The second period would see each team get one goal. Mitchell would increase their lead to two as Charlie Geiger would pound one to the back of the net when he jumped on a loose puck in the slot. Saugeen Shores would cut the lead in half with a buzzer beater to end the period.

The home team would bounce back early in the third as Jack Miller would pick up the puck in his own end, go around the Storm defence, then outwait the goalie and patiently slide it in on the prone Storm goalie. The next goal would put the game out of reach as Grayson Yost displayed tenacious checking along the boards in the neutral zone, then carried into the offensive zone, cut to the centre of the ice and then connected bar down on the blocker side to make the score 4-1. The final goal of the game would be a highlight reel short-handed goal. Hayden Nicholson would clear the defensive zone high off the glass that would get picked up by Ethan Meinen and he would break in on the visiting goalie and lay a beautiful pass over to Jacob Dietrich who would one-time the pass to the back of the net.

The two squads will have little rest as they battle each other in Game 2 of the six-point series Sunday morning in Port Elgin.
