PeeWee AE's Open Silver Stick Tournament With Two Wins
The New Orleans Pizza PeeWee AE Meteors played two games on Friday at their Silver Stick Tournament in Collingwood, and would open the tournament with two wins. The Meteors faced New Market Red in their first game and would start the game with lots of energy keeping the majority of play in their opponent's end. The best scoring chance of the period was created by the hustle of Carter O'Brien as he made a rush down ice and toward the net, but would be unable to beat the New Market goalie.

In the middle frame, after heavy pressure by New Market in the Meteor's end, Jacob Dietrich would net a beauty goal after a rush back down the ice to give Mitchell the lead. As the second period wound down goalie Keagan Meinen would make several key saves to keep his team in the lead. Heading to the third, the Meteors would keep their energy strong and win the battles against the boards. Mid-period, while on a power play, the Meteors would bring strong pressure, and a hard shot from the stick of Noah Mann would prove too much for the goalie to handle as it would bounce up and over him to score. Dietrich and Lucas Mahon would assist on the goal. The Meteors would hold on for the win, with Meinen coming up big in net, shutting down a power play and New Market's goalie being pulled in the final minutes. Meinen would get the shutout to open the tournament and be awarded Player Of The Game.

In the second game of the day, the Meteors would face the Saugeen Shores Storm. The Meteors would come out strong again, but would end the period with a 1-0 deficit scored under heavy pressure. There would be no scoring in the second period as both teams battled hard for control of the puck and there was action at both ends of the ice. With just under 7 minutes left to play in the third period, Bryce Otten would get the puck to Grayson Yost who would head down ice and make a perfect pass back to Preston Porter who would beat the goalie top shelf to tie the game. Just over a minute later, Lucas Mahon would pass to Dietrich who would find open ice on a bad Saugeen Shores line change to go in and beat the goalie alone.

In the final minutes of the game goalie Joel Meinen would keep his team in the lead with stellar play in net under extra pressure as the Storm's goalie would be pulled. Grayson Yost would be awarded Player Of The Game.

The Meteors will face the Collingwood Blackhawks on Saturday.
