AE Meteors Tie, Win to Open PeeWee Tournament
The New Orleans Pizza PeeWee AE Meteors played two games on Friday at the 63rd Annual Mitchell PeeWee Tournament and would come away with a tie against the South Huron Sabres and a win against the Cayuga Stars.

The Meteors played a strong first game against a tough Sabres team. The Sabres would get the lone goal of the first period. Mitchell would answer with just over a minute to play in the second period with an unassisted goal from the stick of Hayden Nicholson who would go end to end with the puck to bury a perfect shot. Both teams would battle hard in the third with the Meteors finding the net with 55 seconds left to play as Carter O'Brien would beat the Sabres goalie with assists going to Jack Miller and Jack VanLoon. In an unfortunate end to the game, the Sabres would score with 11 seconds left to leave the game in a tie at two. Goalie Keegan Meinen played well keeping his team within reach of the win for the duration of the game.

In their second game of the day, the Meteors faced the Cayuga Stars and would dominate the play for most of the game. The Stars goalie would face an amazing number of shots by the Meteors in the first two periods before finally allowing a goal at the half-way point of the third when Ethan Meinen would find an open corner to poke in the puck. Just 20 seconds later the Meteors would score again after Jack Miller would win a face-off getting the puck to O'Brien who would fire a quick shot to beat the goalie. Charlie Geiger would round out the scoring for Mitchell with a rebound shot with assists going to Jack VanLoon and Grayson Yost.  Mitchell would win the game with a final score of 3-1.
