Heartbreaker for the PeeWee C girls in Woodstock Semi-final
Friday morning the Ace Country and Garden Peewee girls opened the Woodstock Wildcats tournament with a 5-1win over Tilsonberg. Nicole Hahn led the scoring with a natural hat trick while Jordyn Carwford and Meinen added singles. Later that afternoon the girls gave up a game to St. Mary's losing 2-1. Hahn being the lone scorer. Saturday morning they met up with Saugeen Shores who they fell a few goals short to as well.

Cydney Weir sniped the top corner to put the team on the scoreboard ending in a 4-1 loss.

The Meteors met up with the host team later that day in the quarter final proving they weren't ready to be done. Crawford found the net in the first with the help of Lauren McKay and Meg Schoonderwoerd.

Alexis Insley added one in the second giving the girls a 2-0 lead while Meinen added a pair resulting in a 4-0 game sending the girls off to the Semi-finals early Sunday morning.

Sunday morning the girls were up bright and early to meet the Wallacburg Lakers in the Semi-finals at 8:00am. The Lakers opened the scoring in the middle of the second taking a 1-0 lead. 1 minute later McKay found the net from Crawford to tie it up. After the 1-1 tie the game went into a 3 on 3 sudden death over time. With no team scoring during the over time they continued to a shoot out. Unfortunately we could not sneak another past their goalie and our weekend ended with a 2-1 loss.

Amazing goaltending throughout the weekend from Shawni DeJong and strong defensive play from Kalea Keyser, Alley McMann, Schonnderwoerd and Brett Gethke contributed to low scoring games and a successful week-end.

Nice job girls!
