2018 OWHA Provincials
The Ace Country and Garden Pee Wee C team participated in the OWHA Provincials this weekend.  The girls were 2 wins and 1 lost in their pool play, placing them in second to advance to the quarter finals against Nepean Wildcats.

The game was scoreless after the first period.  With just over a minute into the second after a stoppage in play, Nepean Wildcats were awarded a controversial goal.  This took the momentum away from Mitchell and the girls were unable to bounce back, losing 1 to 0.

In game one of round robin against Ottawa Ice, the girls controlled the play however only Jaelyn Meinen was able to find the back of the net from Alex Insley dropping their first game 4 to 1.

The girls bounced back in game two against the Ilderton Jets, continuing to fore check hard.  Lauren McKay scored early in the game with a set up from Jordyn Crawford and Meg Schoonderwoerd.  Twenty seconds later Meinen got her second of the tournament with Nicole Hahn adding the helper.  The Meteors took a 3 to 1 lead after the first with Insley banging in a rebound Hahn and Ally McMann.  Hahn would make it 4 to 1 final with Meinen and Insley adding the assists.

With the hopes to advance to the quarter finals the girls need a win or a tie to advance against North Bay Ice Boltz.  Late in the second the Ice Boltz went in on a two on one to score taking a 1 to 0 lead into the third period.  With the goalie pulled, pressure on deep in the Ice Boltz end, the girls forcing, the Ice Boltz iced the puck in an attempt to hit the empty net.  Time out called with 1:07 on the clock the Meteors planned their attack. Face off won by Insley and fore checking hard the puck came out to Schoonderwoerd at the point who immediately took the shot on net with Meinen and Crawford out front banging away, Crawford put it in the back of the net with only thirty seconds to go.  With the Ice Boltz's goalie out to try and win the game the Meteors stood tall and refused to allow the into their end.  McKay pressuring hard fed Insley the puck to put in into the empty net with just .3 seconds left on the clock.  This punched their ticket to the quarter finals.
