Double Shut-out!
The Mitchell Meteors Atom AE team took on Central Perth last Thursday evening on their home ice in Mitchell for the 1st of the season debut and had their work cut out for them.  With end to end action and repeated attempts to score the Central perth goaltender would show no weakness.  It was the game of the goaltenders in the end as neither the opponents nor the wall, Keegan Meinen would let the puck pass by the crease in the 1st,  2nd and 3rd periods! !  It was a thrill to watch as all fans were kept on the edge of their seats with amazement in their eyes as player after player at both ends would make great shots only to be blocked and fanned away.

Following 2 days later, the Atom AE's would travel up the lake to Port Elgin on a rainy Saturday afternoon to play a tough Saugeen Shores team at noon.  Once again our boys came ready to skate and play and would have attempts at the net, but both teams would come up empty again in the 1St period with solid tending once again from Meinen.  The 2nd period the Meteors came out skating hard with attempts at the Saugeen net. Their excitement was cut down a notch ,  with the opponents slipping the puck very sleekly by Meinen on the power play. With the opponents now skating with full force and adrenaline,  they were able to come back shortly after and once again made a play to score on the visiting Meteors team.  Still holding their heads high and determined, the Meteors would  answer back in the 3rd period and place their 1st goal of the season, with a re-bound shot off Lucas Mahon, and Payton Wood who would find the back of the Saugeen Shores goalies net.  The final period would continue to be an edgy one as the Mitchell Fans held hopes for a tying goal and the Saugeen fans closed their eyes in fear every shot on their net.  At the sound of the buzzer, Saugeen Shores would have their glory with a win in their barn...but not without a fight.  A great 2nd game of the season for the Atom AE Meteors.

The team starts off early Friday morning at 7:15 AM in St Mary's vs Collingwood for a 3 day tournament followed by a 5:45 pm game vs the Ilderton Jets.
