Close Come Back
The  Thompson Atom AE Squad took a trip North yesterday, Sunday November 5th to Lucknow to play a fast-paced Sepoys Rep team.  The visiting Mitchell team came out slow in the 1st  and would struggle to make plays around the home team as the Sepoys made slick passes and would manage to score twice on netminder Keegan Meinen.

The 2nd the Thompson AES would manage to pick up the pace with opening the period at the eight and a half minute mark with Jacob Dietrich hustling down the ice and placing a beauty in the net assisted by Jonah Gibbings and Ryan Glauser, catching the Lucknow goalie off guard making a close score of 2-1.  Unfortunately the boys Glory would be cut real short with the Sepoys answering back not 10 seconds later with the shot that squeezed by Meinen in taking the lead to game by 2 goals.  Both teams would battle throughout the second with the Sepoys ending out the period with a fourth goal making a confident lead of 4-1 to end the second.

The 3rd Would be a nail biter coming in down three goals, the Thompson AE Squad would wow the fans with the energy they brought out on the ice.  Just two minutes into the 3rd, # 9 Bryce Dixon, would make a nice shot in the net assisted by Payton Wood and Max Hannon. With the hopes of a come back the Thompson AE's would continue to battle throughout the 3rd and keep the puck out of their end and dominate.  The team wouldn't stop there, and kept the pressure on the Lucknow Sepoys team as they would come together as a team and make the home team work hard for their intended victory.  With two and a half minutes left in the 3rd, Dietrich would pick up his speed and dance through the Sepoys to their end and place a ringer of a goal in the corner to make a thriller of a score Teeter tottering at 4-3 for the home team.  With everyone on the edge of their seats the boys worked hard in an attempt to tie it up with again a tremendous shot by Cohen Ahrens that would land just shy of the tying goal hitting the crossbar with 1 minute left in the 3rd.  Ultimately in the end, it was not for lack of effort from the Mitchell Thompson AE team, but they would come up shy one goal allowing the home Sepoys team to take the win.

The boys will return to their home Ice on Tuesday November 7th at 7 p.m. to take on the Sepoys again to try to gain a victory.
