Thompson Atom AEs begin playoffs strong
The Mitchell Thompson AE team began a best 3 of 5 series in Listowel against the Cyclones on Wednesday, January 17th with the team coming on strong in the new Steve Kerr rink.

The team would head up Highway 23 for a 630 start to play game 1 in the 1st round of the boys OMHA playoffs.  The team started out the 1st period strong with end to end action including several stellar plays from the boys and unbelievable saves from goalie Keegan Meinen.  Jacob Dietrich was able to place a ringer of a shot in the back of the Cyclones net in the 1st wowing the fans.
The second period was again  full of endless action including a top notch performance with the team dominating the period and plays, despite some penalty killing from some questionable calls for the visitors. The Thompson AES, left winger, Glauser, would manuvre and manage to place a second puck past the Cyclones net minder to make a fairly confident lead of 2-0 to enter the 3rd period.
With 15 minutes of play left, the AE'S would again please their watchers as they never let up and played their best,  even managing to kill off 2 penalties in a unfavorable 5 on 3 situation.  Bryce Dixon would succeed in hammering a 3rd and final goal in the Listowel home teams net making a pretty perfect win for the Meteors of 3-0.  A superb performance and well played game by the entire team, and a well deserved shut out for Mr. Meinen, to start the play off season with.  The squad will return to Monkton for their home ice for game 2 of the series on Sunday January 21st at 4 PM.
