Novice Girls Suffer Road Loss in Mooretown
The Dodge Caravan Kids Meteor Novice Girls traveled to Mooretown on January 21st, dropping a 4-2 decision to their hosts.
Maren Marshall opened the scoring with just over three minutes remaining in the first period, scooping up a puck in the neutral zone and coming in all alone. Mooretown stormed back with two quick unanswered goals in the last two minutes of the period to take a 2-1 lead after one. Less than a minute into the second period, Ava Harmer broke in all alone, firing a shot top shelf to tie the game. Mooretown would answer back quickly again, with two more quick goals within 23 seconds to take a commanding 4-2 lead. In talking to some passionate fans after the game, Abigayle Van Bakel appeared to jam a loose puck in behind the goalie's pads to bring the score to 4-3, but the zebras were taking a nap at the time, leaving 4-2 as the final score.
