Novice Girls Tie At Home, Lose On Road
The Dodge Caravan Kids Meteor Novice 'C' Girls opened their WOGHL Division I Championship round vs the St. Thomas Panthers with a 1-1 tie at home on March 24th, but suffered a 2-0 loss in Aylmer the following day. The deciding game three of the four-point series will be March 27th back in Aylmer, as the Meteors must win to force an overtime/shootout tie-breaker immediately following regulation.
In Mitchell on Saturday, the teams battled through two scoreless periods before Camryn Medhurst opened the scoring early in the third, assisted by Maren Marshall. St. Thomas would tie the game on a power play goal late in the period, ending the game in a tie.
Traveling to Aylmer on Sunday due to no ice availability in St. Thomas all weekend, the locals ran into a hot goalie that thwarted many scoring chances in the penalty-free game. The Panthers would add a goal in each of the first two periods, enough to take the series lead.
