Van Bakel Stays Hot As Novice Girls HL Shut Out Huron Heat
Abigayle Van Bakel continued her torrid scoring pace, scoring three goals as the Mitchell Dodge Grand Caravan Meteor Novice Girls HL shut out Huron Heat 5-0 in league play on Jan 21.

Van Bakel notched a goal in each period, opening the scoring midway through the first period assisted by Selina Gethke.  Jayda Houben would assist on her second goal of the game, and Van Bakel would score again unassisted early in the third period to complete the natural hat trick.  Tegan Mace barreled her way through some traffic to score midway through the final frame, set up by Alayna McKay.  Houben would add an empty netter in the dying seconds to round out the scoring.  The defense of Maren Marshall, Macie Russwurm, Addy Wolfe, and Gethke worked hard to limit the scoring chances, and goaltender Ellie MacArthur was steady turning aside all shots and posting the shutout.
Next up for the girls is competing in the Orangeville Sweethearts Tournament on Jan 27-29th, facing Mississauga Royal Chiefs in their opening round robin game on the Friday afternoon.
