New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE's advanced to Semi-finals in St. Marys
The New Orleans Pizza Pee Wee AE Mitchell Meteors earned a berth
into the semi-finals in the St.Marys Pee Wee AE boy’s tournament this past
weekend where they lost to the home team St. Marys Rock 5-1 in a much closer
game than the score would indicate.
Mitchell carried much of the play but couldn’t get it past an excellent St. Marys goalkeeper until Damen Roobroeck finally connected from Joe Adams with just over 4 minutes left in the game. That goal made it 3-1. St. Marys managed to put it out of reach late with their fourth goal into an empty net and a fifth one with time running out.
That semi-final loss ended what had been a very successful run in the tournament up to that point. Saturday afternoon the Meteors defeated the Petrolia Oilers 2-0. Kody Eisler earned the shutout and Joe Adams scored both goals to power the win.
Friday night Mitchell defeated the Pelham Panthers 3-1. Brennan Vanderkuylen allowed only the single goal while earning the win. Damen Roobroeck, Joe Adams and PJ Marshall scored the goals. Assists went to Adams, Marshall, Jack Steinbach and Andreas Harmer.
In the opening game of the tournament Thursday night the Meteors fought the Ilderton Jets to a 3-3 tie. PJ Marshall scored 2 goals and Cole Hannon scored for Mitchell. The assists went to Joe Adams, Marshall and Xavier Lorenz.
