Pee Wee AEs earn win in opener
The Mitchell Meteors Pee Wee AE team opened their regular season at home on Friday night with a hard fought 4-3 win against the visiting Kincardine Kinucks.

Mitchell opened the scoring just over a minute into the game with PJ Marshall scoring on an assist from Logan Ruby.    The score would stay that way until the start of the second when Kincardine tied the game up.  The Kinucks would take control of the game and kept the Meteors on their heels throughout the second period.  Kincardine would score 2 more goals in the second and enter the break with a 3-1 lead.

The Meteors came roaring back in the third period, Cole Hannah cut the deficit to one early in the third with assists to Kaden Meinen and Xavier Lorenz.  Mitchell continued to battle and were rewarded halfway through the third period when PJ Marshall scored an unassisted goal, his second of the game to tie it up.    Just thirty seconds later the Meteors took the lead on a goal by Damen Roobroeck from Cole Hannah.  Mitchell kept the pressure on and had many excellent chances but couldn’t get another one by the Kincardine goaltender.

It was a rough game with both teams combining for 11 penalties.

Kody Eisler and Brennan Vanderkuylen played well while splitting time in net for the win.
