Your Neighborhood Credit Union Atom Rep boys pick up three points in dramatic fashion during this week's league play.
Two weeknight games to the north leave the boys with a win and a tie but the results came with a healthy share of close shaves and last minute drama to keep fans up and out of their seats.

Monday night was a trip to Mildmay to visit the South Bruce Blades. Vincent Voros opened the scoring with a short handed goal as he was able to slip past the Blades as they were trying to hold to the Meteors zone. Good penalty killing of both first period short hands was clutch to get the boys to the first break with the one goal lead. Daniel Ogilvie and Brock Boville both winning puck battles and icing to work time off the kills. The second period brought a tie marker from South Bruce but Mitchell would have none of that as James McCarthy took back the lead 18 seconds later. Josh French and Jack Small would assist. The Blades would again tie before the period end but with just a few seconds remaining Kyle Mills would grab back the Meteors lead. The third brought on the Blades as they would score twice mid frame and leap frog the boys for the lead. But not to be outdone Voros would get the tie back late in the 3rd and in a furry of stunning pressure in the last few seconds of the game Jarrett VanBakel would cap off the win and get Mitchell the second point as he buried the winner as just 0.3 of a second remained on the clock. Never a dull moment as Mitchell was able to ring iron at least half a dozen times!

Thursday was a journey up hwy 21 to match up against the Kinucks. Kincardine was able to score mid first and held the one goal lead until just past the 9 minute mark of the third. It wasn't for lack of trying as the YNCU reps kept the Kinucks netminder very busy and was able to control a lot of the play all game long. With under a minute left Kincardine was able to score on their power play to regain the single goal lead but again with the never quit approach the Meteors tied back up as Mills picked up his second goal of the night. The battle would end as a tie but it still gave a point and a hard earned one at that for an all-around good week for the group. Good work winning the gritty battles boys. Hard work is paying off!
