Team Bonding at the Caravan Kids Tournament in Brantford
The Dodge Caravan Kids started their long weekend with a league playoff game against the Wingham Ironmen on Saturday in Mitchell.  With two minutes left in the opening period the Ironmen scored first, proving that they had come to Mitchell with a mindset to win.  Unfortunately, the Meteors just didn't seem to have their usual team-playing spirit that evening and even though Carson B. and Charlie W. each scored one goal, the Ironmen were victorious with a final score of 3-2.

A little disappointed after the game, Austin J. asked, "but do we still get to go to the tournament tomorrow?"  He was very pleased to learn that they were still able to go.  It was just what the boys needed to reorganize themselves and gain some valuable team bonding experiences so off they went to Brantford for the Dodge Caravan Kids Novice Tournament at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Complex.  They started off with an excellent game against the Grimsby Rangers demonstrating their usual hard-work and team spirit winning the game 10-2.  Owen B. celebrated five goals while Zack S., Austin J., Charlie W., Carson B and Landon VanBakel scored the other 5.
The same teamwork was evident in the game that followed against the Milton Hawks.  Jackson K. took on a positive leadership role on and off the ice while the defencemen, Lucas B., Nate U., Colby F., and Isaak S. each played their part with heart and skill.  Nate was often seen outskating the Hawk's forwards, Lucas kept pushing the puck forward creating many scoring opportunities, Colby frustrated the opposition by steeling their puck over and over, and Isaak often carried the puck down the entire ice into the scoring zone.  Owen B., Rogan C. and Jake R. scored a total of 4 goals while Carter M. gracefully stopped every shot on net ending the game at 4-0.
The Caravan Kids found themselves up against the Meadowvalle BlackHawks for their third game.  With a well-played, close first period, the Meteors continued to show spirit and hard work. However, the Blackhawks came out with the win ending the Caravan Kids hopes of going to the tournament finals.  Nevertheless, the Caravan Kids have regrouped, deepened friendships and are now ready to head back into their league playoffs starting with a game against BCH this Thursday in Clinton.
Thank you to all the coaches, trainers, parent reps and managers for your hard work and encouragement this weekend.  A special thank you goes to Rhonda K. for all her behind-the-scene work each week...Thanks everyone!
