Tough Opponents No Match For The Meteors
The Dodge Caravan Kids had an exciting weekend as they took on Central Perth on Saturday morning and the Goderich Sailors on Sunday Evening. Mornings must be tough on the boys as they faced Central Perth with a little less zeal than usual. They struggled to maintain a lead leaving the score at 3-3 with just 4 minutes left in the final period. Fortunately, they found their legs and scored two more goals ending the game 5-3.
Once Sunday evening rolled around the Caravan Kids were ready to take on the Goderich Sailors who were at the top of the ladder in the league. With a large crowd cheering them on, the Caravan Kids took an early lead when Carson B. scored three minutes into the first period. With his speed and determination, Nate U. was often seen chasing down his opponents crushing any of their hopes for a goal. Lucas B. was like a rock on the Blue line not letting the puck out of the Sailors zone. When the puck did manage its way into the Meteor zone, Colby F. was always ready to confidently carry it behind the net and pass it back over the blue line giving the forwards another chance to score. With the boards as his best friend, Isaak S. deked his way past the Sailors bringing the puck right back into scoring territory. This great defensive play offered several scoring opportunities enabling Zack S. and Charlie W. to raise the score to 3-0, defeating the Goderich Sailors and placing the Meteors in first place of their league. This should help the Caravan Kids' confidence as they head into the Drayton tournament this weekend.
