Road win!
The Synders Graphics PeeWee Girls got the win last night on the road beating the Bluewater Hawks 4-1.

On the road last night the girls started off a bit slow and sluggish after the hour drive to the arena.  Both teams soon started getting their feet under them and the pace seemed to pick up.  With back and forth play during the first period Erica Pletch would take a beautiful shot from the side of the net to put our gals on top 1-0.  With us having a slim lead starting the second period, Maggie Price would add another marker from the point from the face off win of Emily Dearing.  Way to work girls, let's keep this going.  With time winding down in the period, the Hawks would get on the scoreboard with a nice shot from the point as our goalie Makayla Beuerman was well screened and couldn't see it coming. This period was over with us still having the advantage 2-1 but near the end of this period we seemed like we were running on fumes as we just couldn't get things going.  Third period started and again this period was played much like the rest of the game with us having a few good chances but also us turning the puck over to them to take break-aways up the ice and shots on our net.  With not many whistles during this period, Jaimie Badley moved that puck up the ice and took her shot, goalie stopped it but couldn't grab the puck as Emily Haefling got her stick on the puck and tucked that disk neatly behind the goalie to increase our lead by 2.  Nice play girls! By this time in the game we seen a bit of frustration on the Hawks faces as they just couldn't seem to get anything pass our players or goalie so they decided to pull the goalie for the extra attacker.  They had a couple of close chances but our mighty Meteors were right there to shut them down.  Maggie Price would score on the empty net to seal the game's fate 4-1 and that is where it ended, Emma French and Taya Cornish would earn the assists.  Yeah, another win for the girls.
The girls are now getting ready for a busy weekend of hockey as they are in the Stratford Festival Tournament this weekend.  Play starts tomorrow morning at 9:15am against rivals Lambeth Lancers and then another game tomorrow afternoon against East Lambton.  They will finish round robin play on Saturday with games against Grey Highland and Lucan.
Good luck this weekend girls, we all know the mighty Meteors will fly high and show everyone that we mean business!
